Of the seven or eight hundred children adopted each year from Poland, approximately 70-75% are children with special needs. Can you adopt
siblings?
Yes.
Families complete their dossier and submit to Poland with a description of the type of child they are interested in adopting. A child is matched with the family. The family is expected to then travel to Poland for two to three weeks to spend time with the child. During this time, the family is getting to know the child, and Polish authorities are evaluating the placement.
The adoption is then process within approximately two months, and the child can then enter the United States.
The entire process takes 6-9 months. This includes the adoption hearing in Poland and the adoption recognition in the United States.
Yes. The stay is about two to three weeks.
Polish law does not set age restrictions. However, in practice, preference is given to families who are age 40 and younger. Families who are older can qualify for a child who is a bit older. Single women may also adopt, but preference is given to couples.
