    two:    11/2 years old
six:      between 6 months and one year
    one:    Five months old
    four:    three months old

Approximately half of these adoptions were by foreigners.

thirty-one:    developing normally
eight:            problems in movement, speech, coordination
thirteen:        developmental delays

Can you adopt siblings?

Yes.

How does the process work?

Families complete their dossier and submit to Poland with a description of the type of child they are interested in adopting. A child is matched with the family.  The family is expected to then travel to Poland for two to three weeks to spend time with the child.  During this time, the family is getting to know the child, and Polish authorities are evaluating the placement.

The adoption is then process within approximately two months, and the child can then enter the United States.

How long is the wait?

The entire process takes 6-9 months.  This includes the adoption hearing in Poland and the adoption recognition in the United States.

Do I have to travel?

Yes. The stay is about two to three weeks.

Who is eligible?

Polish law does not set age restrictions. However, in practice, preference is given to families who are age 40 and younger.  Families who are older can qualify for a child who is a bit older.  Single women may also adopt, but preference is given to couples.
